Garfield man, 30, claims he’d been killed, threatens to jump from balcony

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 30-year-old Garfield man was hospitalized — and issued a summons for being under the influence of drugs — after screaming from a third-floor balcony that he had died and threatening to jump, authorities said.

Officers ran to his apartment, where other tenants said he’d been acting irrationally, Police Capt. Darren Sucorowski said this morning.

The officers then pulled him inside, Sucorowski said.

He continued to “act delusional, repeatedly [saying] that someone had killed him and he had died,” the captain said.

The man struggled with police while begging them for help before they got him into custody.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation, Sucorowski said.
