As CLIFFVIEW PILOT reported last night, the attendant at the Delta station in the 700 block of River Drive told police the robber got into a waiting, dark-colored Hyundai or Mazda after robbing him with a handgun around 10:10 p.m.

The driver then headed east on Market Street and north on John Street, he said.

The attendant told police the robber at first walked up and asked for change of a $20 bill, Detective Capt. Darren Sucorowski said.

When he said he didn’t have any, the attendant said, the robber pulled a small, black semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at his face.

Authorities didn’t confirm the amount, but a source put the reported figure at between $400-$500.

Both the robber and driver were described as black and in their mid-20s.

The robber had a medium build, was clean shaven and wore brown sandals, the attendant said. The driver had a thin build, he said.

Sucorowski asked that anyone with information that could help the investigation call Garfield Police: 973-478-8500.
