Costanzo, of Skillman Terrace in Saddle Brook, was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center after crashing his 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic Motorcycle around 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Police Chief Robert Kugler said.
He leaves a wife, Janine DiGirolamo Costanzo, two twin daughters in 6th grade and a third daughter in 4th.
Costanzo was headed south on Mayhill Street just south of Rochelle Parkway when he lost control of the motorcycle on the incline over the bridge, Kugler said.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, 188 MacArthur Avenue in Garfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Outwater Lane and Westminster Place in Saddle Brook. Saddle Brook police are investigating, along with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Born in Paterson, “Goomba” Costanzo was raised in Garfield before moving to Saddle Brook nine years ago. He was a laborer for 15 years with both the NY Cement & Concrete Workers District Council in Flushing and the NJ Laborers Union Local 153 in Newark.
