Jamel Griffin, 25, who Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said was arrested in his Brentwood hometown, was one of four accused accomplices of a Paterson woman in the alleged human trafficking ring.

He remained in the Suffolk County (L.I.) Jail pending extradition to New Jersey to face charges of human trafficking, promoting prostitution of a juvenile and child endangerment, Grewal said.

Tipped off late last summer that 14- and 15-year-old girls were being pimped out of a local motel, South Hackensack police notified the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit.

Stephanie Boneta, 23, of Rosa Parks Boulevard, was arrested and ordered held in the Bergen County Jail.

Three others were taken into custody in Suffolk County, L.I.: Edwin Boneta, 22, of Central Islip, Selena Boneta, 19, of West Babylon and Jefferson Contreras, 18, of Bay Shore, Grewal said at the time.

All are charged with the same counts as Griffin.

Grewal thanked South Hackensack police and the FBI for their roles in the investigation and the capture of Griffin.
