An English teacher at the school called city police just after 6 o’clock last night after seeing a threat to blow up the school on an internal message board that instructors used to communicate with students.
While police were evacuating and searching the school, others headed to the home of the 15-year-old whose account it was posted from, Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo said.
The teen told them a 14-year-old freshman — who wasn’t known as a troublemaker — “accessed his school-issued iPad to send it,” the captain said.
The 15-year-old also said he immediately deleted the email, the posting and everything associated with it as soon as he discovered what happened, Salcedo said.
Police issued a complaint to him for evidence tampering.
The 14-year-old, meanwwhile, was named in a juvenile complaint for causing a false public alarm.
Both were due in Family Court this morning after being released to their parents last night.
“We’re not sure why they picked this teacher,” Salcedo said. “There was no threat to her, just to the school.”
