Saturday’s showing (10 a.m.): “Rise of the Guardians.”

Sunday brings a choice at 1 p.m.: Those who don’t want to see “Rise of the Guardians” can catch “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

Following the films, families will receive gift bags filled with useful items and gift cards courtesy of corporate sponsors.

“We can’t replace people’s homes, or all the possessions they lost,” Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan said, “but we can bring them together with their friends and neighbors for a special afternoon that will allow the children and their parents to put aside their troubles for a few hours.”

NOTES: Tickets to the event must be reserved in advance by calling Lauren St. Helaire in the Bergen County Executive’s Office: (201) 336-7317. Transportation can be arranged for those who need it.

The Family Movie Weekend was organized by Bergen County officials in tandem with corporate underwriters — including Wells Fargo Advisors, Inserra Supermarkets, PSE&G and The Sports Authority, which have agreed to donate gift cards and merchandise — and the Williams Center.

“The people at the Williams Center have been very generous with their time and the use of their facility for this worthy endeavor,” Donovan said.

County officials are still seeking donations toward the special weekend.
