Two men went into the Idra Alta Moda store on the mall’s first level while another waited just outside late yesterday afternoon, Hackensack Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The getaway driver apparently kept the car running.

In a flash, the two men in the store grabbed the three coats off display racks and bolted.

“The coats weren’t chained or anything,” Salcedo said. “It was essentially a hit-and-run shoplifting.”

The thieves were gone before anyone could get a clear look at the vehicle, he said.

Witnesses described the three they briefly spotted as light-skinned Hispanic or black males, the captain said.

CLIFFVIEW PILOT broke the news of the thefts last night.

During an eyeball review of the mall, CLIFFVIEW PILOT found no visible security cameras outside and few on the indoor lower level.

Salcedo said questions about mall security should be addressed to management.
