Aaron G. Williams and Gary L. Workman, both of Columbus, Ohio, drove east to buy the guns, then were arrested soon after the August 2012 deal, authorities said.
They were caught with three handguns: a 9mm FMK, a Jiminez .380-caliber and a Charter Arms Undercover 38 Special, records show.
Williams, 22, and Workman, 24, had been free on bail since their arrests.
Williams admitted that he knew it was illegal to have the weapons without a permit and accepted a flat three-year prison sentence with a year’s probation after he’s released.
Workman, who had a history of minor offenses, pleaded guilty to possessing the same weapons in return for a five-year state prison sentence and a year’s probation after his release.
A fourth degree charge of possession of body armor-piercing bullets was dropped as part of the plea deal.
Because the crimes are Graves Act offenses, both must serve the full terms without parole.
Presiding Superior Court Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi set sentencing for Jan. 17.
