Kelly Bain Medina, 37, of Hackensack was charged with a single count of theft by deception and released pending a court hearing.

A new incoming president and treasurer of the Fanny Meyer Hillers School PTA, a 501(c3) non-profit organization, requested the books from Medina.

She reluctantly turned them over after some hesitation, Hackensack Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

“Discrepancies were found with several debit card purchases that obvoiusly were not PTA-related,” Salcedo said.

Medina, who is also a member of the Hackensack Baseball Board, “reimbursed some of the money over time, not much, in an apparent effort to offset the thefts,” the captain said.
