Two EMTs were taken to UMDNJ following the 12:45 p.m. crash.
The senior citizen was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and her aide to Hackensack University Medical Center.
The driver of the SUV involved in the initial collision, a Lyndhurst resident in his 20s, was taken to HUMC.
“Nobody was injured seriously,” Lyndhurst Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The ambulance was headed to nearby call when it was rammed in the intersection of Ridge Road and Second Avenue by the borough man’s northbound Ford Edge, O’Connor said.
The ambulance became airborne and slammed into another SUV containing the senior citizen, who also is from Lyndhurst, and her a 63-year-old aide from Teaneck, who was driving, the chief saide.
“They were sitting ther waiting for the light to change,” O’Connor said.
An investigation was expected to keep the street closed for several more hours.
O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that the intersection ‘s streetlight cameras were working and recorded the entire incident.
