Eluding charges in Englewood Cliffs stolen vehicle chase, crash

ONLY ON CVP: A 19-year-old Englewood probationer was indicted by a grand jury in Hackensack this week on two counts of eluding police after they said he led them on a chase in a stolen pickup truck while wearing his monitoring bracelet.

Englewood Cliffs Officer Kyle Ust tried stopping the Dodge Ram for several traffic violations on Palisade Avenue around 4 a.m. July 9.

Malik Lee kept going, however, and a brief chase ended when the Ram crashed near Dwight Place and Franklyn Street in Englewood, Police Capt. Daniel Morrissey said at the time.

Officers arrested Lee and took a 17-year-old girl who was with him into custody. A second passenger fled.

Lee remained free on $25,000 bail posted Sept. 22.

The girl was released to relatives pending a Family Part delinquent complaint of receiving stolen property.
