Morehouse, 31, of Clifton was being held in the Bergen County Jail following his arrest earlier today by detectives and officers from both departments.

Authorities said Morehouse robbed a Chase branch of $500 around 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve after threatening to shoot the teller.

“He passed a note to [the teller] demanding money and threatened that he had a gun and that he would shoot her if she didn’t give him the money,” Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said at the time. “He continually told her not to push the panic alarm.”

A few days earlier, Morehouse was turned away from the Burger King and Wendy’s on Route 46 in South Hackensack after handing clerks notes demanding money, authorities said.

“They looked at him as if to say: ‘You’re not really serious, are you?’ ” a ranking law enforcement official told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.

He ran out of each and hopped into a waiting cab before succeeding on the third try: A clerk at the nearby Airport Motel on Huyler Street “got scared and gave him (several hundred dollars),” the source said.

Morehouse is also a suspect in the knife-point robbery of a CVS in Hackensack — also on New Year’s Eve.

In that holdup, the robber — described as white, 30-something, with reddish hair and a mustache — was wearing the same dark, hooded sweatshirt with white inner lining as in the South Hackensack incidents, law enforcement sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He also was carrying a backpack.
