Three people were taken to the Pascack Valley emergency clinic and two to Hackensack University Medical Center, county Police Chief Brian Higgins told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“Fortunately, it wasn’t as bad as first thought,” Higgins said.

The man was out with his wife at the park when he shifted his van into gear the wrong way, the chief said.

The vehicle immediately hit a pedestrian, then swerved and hit another before smashing into a mini-van that slammed into someone else. The three pedestrians, the driver of the van and the original driver were all whisked from the park by ambulance.
