Drunk driving crash in East Rutherford sends pedestrian to hospital

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A crash in East Rutherford last night sent a pedestrian to the hospital and led to the arrest of the driver, who authorities said was drunk.

The crash occurred just before 7:45 p.m. when a vehicle jumped the curb and struck a utility pole on Railroad Avenue between Boiling Springs Avenue and Everett Place.

  • UPDATE: A 28-year-old Carlstadt woman remained in critical condition this morning after she was struck by a car driven by a drunk 22-year-old Rutherford man in East Rutherford last night, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli confirmed. READ MORE…. 

The car also struck a female passerby, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning.

Arrested at the scene was Victor Kwak, 22, of Union Avenue in East Rutherford.

Kwak was intoxicated, Molinelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
