Coit, 24, was arrested on charges of plotting to distribute drugs from the jail with Carter, 36, after county sheriff’s officers quickly sniffed out the alleged plot.
She has been serving a 180-day sentence at the Hudson County Jail in connection with another crime and was arraigned yesterday on charges of conspiracy and manufacturing or dispensing drugs.
Carter was arraigned on the new charges in June, when a judge boosted his bail to $117,500 from what had been $42,500.
He was behind bars following what authorities said was a chase by a U.S. marshal through traffic outside the Homestead Village/Extended Stay hotel last August.
Carter was carrying two Raven Arms .25-caliber handguns, hollow-nose bullets and 123 bags of cocaine that local police said would have sold for roughly $7,500 on the street, authorities said at the time.
The original charges included being a felon in possession of a handgun (having been convicted of drug-related felonies on Staten Island), having illegal ammunition, possessing a weapon while committing a drug crime, drug possession, distributing cocaine, resisting arrest and being a fugitive from justice.
A judge ordered both Carter and Coit back to court on Sept. 22, giving defense attorneys time to review hours of jail-recorded phone calls between them.
