Both were using sledgehammers to bust up a section of roof atop the building at 1 Passaic Street when it gave way, Police Chief Joseph Rutigliano said.

Moonachie’s First Aid/Rescue Squad treated them on the roof, then took the workers to HUMC after the Moonachie Fire Department brought them down with a ladder around 11:15 a.m., less than 20 minutes after the fall.
