The robber hit the Wells Fargo branch at 181 Boulevard right around 9 a.m., an hour or so after a small fire broke out and was extinguished at the Sonic restaurant on nearby Route 17.

He was wearing gloves, a New England Patriots baseball cap and a scarf or mask over the lower half of his face, with the hood of a gray sweatshirt pulled over his head, along with blue jeans and sneakers, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Colaneri described the take only as “a small amount of cash,” but two separate law enforcement sources put the figure at just over $1,200.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification was processing evidence as Hasbrouck Heights police and FBI agents canvassed the area.
