Once on eastbound Route 3, the Toyota Corolla hit another car, causing a chain-reaction crash involving at least three other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer.

A medical chopper landed at nearby MetLife Stadium to take the 19-year-old Jersey City driver to Hackensack University Medical Center following the 6:30 a.m. crash near the ramp for the New Jersey Turnpike.

The eastbound side was partially re-opened and the westbound highway completely re-opened just after 8:30 a.m.
