Bronx fugitive nabbed with knife, pot in Fair Lawn traffic stop

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Fair Lawn police said they arrested a Bronx man wanted on robbery charges in the city while seizing a steak knife from his pocket and pot, pieces of jewelry, a hammer and a ‘Scream’ mask in a car they stopped on Route 208 yesterday.

Officer John Rovetto stopped the Nissan with New Jersey license plates on the northbound highway at Plaza Road near Fair Lawn Avenue just before 4:30 p.m.

Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 Officer Robert Mantone responded with his dog, Mike, who discovered “evidence of marijuana use: in the car, Sgt. Brian Metzler.

Tarik Jenkins, 20, was being held on $2,500 in the Bergen County Jail, charged with possession of a weapon, drugs and paraphernalia.

The driver, 20-year-old David Clarke of Hackensack, was released on a summons charging him with drug possession and a host of traffic offenses: failing to keep right, unsafe tires, maintenance of lamps, improper mirrors, operating an unsafe vehicle, not having a driver’s license and drug possession in a motor vehicle.
