Bread truck driver, 82, breaks leg in crash that closes NJ-bound GWB

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An 82-year-old bread truck driver broke his leg during a crash that closed the westbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge for nearly an hour this morning.

The Chevy step van smashed into the median even with the toll plaza on the eastbound side just after 11 a.m., the Port Authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The Bronx driver broke his left leg and sustained cuts to his right, Pentangelo said.

EMS workers tended to the victim before transporting him to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.
