Officers responded just before 9 p.m. to a call of the bleeding man, who was shouting from an abandoned house on Elm Avenue near West Grove Street, Bogota Police Capt. James Sepp told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
He’d been stabbed in the side and “was trying to make it back to a friend’s house but couldn’t because of his injury,” Sepp said.
The man told officers that he was walking on Linden Avenue when he noticed he was being followed.
The assailant “called out his name, walked up to him and stabbed him in the side,” Sepp said. Then he took an undetermined amount of cash and headed south on Linden Avenue in the direction he came from.
The victim called his friend from his cellphone and began walking, but collapsed soon after, the captain said.
Bogota and Teaneck police, assisted by the Bergen County Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office and CSX Railroad Police set up a perimeter but didn’t find a suspect.
The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
