An Oct. 23 warrant for the 43-year-old Burdiez’s arrest turned up during a traffic stop in Teaneck last night, said Joseph Hornyak of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
Last year Burdiez was charged with DWI in Bergenfield after police stopped his black Land Rover at 1:25 a.m. Aug. 24 at Clinton Avenue and Henry Street, according to a police report. He was issued four summonses and his car was towed and impounded, the report says.
Last month, a judge in Hackensack tentatively set a Dec. 18 trial date to hear Bogota Mayor Tito Jackson’s claim that Burdiez hit him during a closed Borough Council budget session in August and Burdiez’s counter-claim that the mayor harassed him.
The trial date is currently set for Dec. 18.
Burdiez, who runs a freight shipping and trucking company out of Jersey City, was sworn to the council in 2011 to fill a vacant seat, then lost a primary this spring. His council term expires in December.
