Bogota police called to Palisade Avenue and Third Place on a report of a car in a “No Parking” zone just after 12:30 p.m. saw Burdiez walking from a nearby store just as word came back of the warrant issued Tuesday, Detective Capt. James Sepp told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
He was held on police headquarters until Bergen Conty Sheriff’s officers picked up him and brought him to the county jail.
Jail records show a $1,824.03 debt.
Burdiez, 43, was arrested on Oct. 29 in Teaneck after a warrant issued six days earlier turned up during a trafic stop.
He paid $8,586.03 in owed child support and was released from the county jail.
Last year Burdiez was charged with DWI in Bergenfield after police stopped his black Land Rover at 1:25 a.m. Aug. 24 at Clinton Avenue and Henry Street, according to a police report. He was issued four summonses and his car was towed and impounded, the report says.
Burdiez also has a tentative Dec. 18 trial date in Hackensack involving cross-claims by outgoing Bogota Mayor Tito Jackson’s claim that Burdiez hit him during a closed Borough Council budget session in August and Burdiez’s allegation that the mayor harassed him.
Burdiez, who runs a freight shipping and trucking company out of Jersey City, was sworn to the council in 2011 to fill a vacant seat, then lost a primary this spring. His council term expires at the end of this month.
