The 73-year-old female driver from Teaneck remained at the scene after her Toyota Corolla struck the boy in the crosswalk at the West Main Street entrance to Oscar E. Olsen Park just after 5:30 p.m., police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

She was still there two hours later as detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit investigated — due to the seriousness of the injury.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence. Main Street into and out of the park remained closed.

The borough boy was headed to the game with his parents tonight when he was struck crossing the street as they parked their car nearby.

A short time earlier, an 11-year-old bicyclist sustained minor injuries after being struck at Queen Anne Road and Elmwood Avenue after emerging from a park there.

He was taken to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.

The driver, a 29-year-old woman from North Bergen, swerved to avoid the boy, who was knocked down after being sideswiped by the car’s mirror.
