A grand jury indictment out of Hackensack charges Nicholas J. Valle with possession of the weapon while committing a crime.
That crime, it says, is having Oxycodone within 500 feet of Edwin Crube Park on Road Street and on the property of the Roy W. Brown Middle School on South Washington Avenue.
Along with four possession counts, he is also charged with dealing the drug.
The gun charge by itself is an offense that, upon conviction, carries a mandatory three- to five-year minimum prison sentence and a maximum of 10 years behind bars.
Detectives watched Valle for several months “after receiving anonymous reports of drug dealing in the area,” Police Capt. Cathy Madalone told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The investigators then obtained warrants and raided his house on Nov. 6.
Also arrested, on lesser charges, were Valle’s brother, Michael, and 22-year-old Alexandria Manansala, 22.
Police seized Oxycodone, illegal steroids and drug paraphernalia, Madalone said.
All three remain free on bail.
