Detectives from Saudino’s office and Hackensack police approached 23-year-old Jason Wright as he left a Broadway convenience store and identified themselves as police officers, Saudino said.
Wright took off on foot across the street and was grabbed after a brief chase, he said. He was carrying several small waxed-paper folds of heroin, the sheriff said.
In a vehicle parked nearby, the investigators grabbed two other men — identified as Najee Belle, 20, and Dwayne Davidson, 21.
A search of the vehicle turned up more smack, Saudino said. The detectives also seized $700 in suspected drug proceeds.
All three were charged with drug possesison with the intent to distribute it.
Detectives added a resisting charge for Wright, who was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. Bail for the other two was $50,000 each.
Saudino thanked Hackensack police for their participation in the initiative.
