Bergen Sheriff's K-9 Officer OK After Route 17 Rochelle Park Crash

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- A Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 officer was hospitalized for evaluation after his vehicle crashed in Rochelle Park overnight Tuesday.

The single-car crash occurred at 12:45 a.m. on southbound Route 17 at Passaic Street, the sheriff's Anthony Cureton told Daily Voice Tuesday afternoon.

"The cause of the accident has not yet been determined," Cureton said just before 4 p.m.

A light post was struck -- although not by Sheriff's Officer David Ciliento's SUV, he said.

The vehicle had to be towed.
