Bergen Sheriff Saudino Promotes Officers

HACKENSACK, N.J. - Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino promoted a sergeant to lieutenant and an officer to sergeant, which he said will "continue the proud tradition of excellence in providing public service to the residents of [the county]."

New Lt. Charles Silverstein and new Sgt. Christopher Howe were sworn in on Nov. 2.

Silverstein, who's been with the department since 2002, was promoted to sergeant in 2008. He a Regional S.W.A.T. team member, is an instructor at the Bergen County Law and Public Institute and works on the accreditation program.

Howe joined the department in 1995 and currently serves as the department's domestic violence liaison. He also has been assigned to the Office of Professional Standards.
