Bergen prosecutor says NY man wanted to have sex with girl, 6

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An upstate New York man sent pornographic videos and explicit instructions on what he wanted to do to a 6-year-old girl to a person he thought was the child’s mother — but was, in fact, a cybercrimes detective, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said today.

His detectives arrested 59-year-old William Potoczny after he “chatted about wanting to engage in sexual activities with the child and described what sexual acts he wanted to perform with the child,” Molinelli said.

“He further indicated he wanted to photograph/video the interaction,” the prosecutor said. “Potoczny sent pornographic videos to the parent and instructed the parent to have the child view them. He also transmitted images of child pornography to the alleged parent.”

Potoczny, a married fence company owner from New Hartford, N.Y., was being held on $500,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after a court appearance this morning in Hackensack.

He is charged with attempted aggravated sexual assault, child endangerment, attempted child endangerment and attempting to transmit obscenity to a minor.

Molinelli thanked the New Hartford Police Department and the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for their assistance to his Computer Crimes Task Force.

He also cited the following local police departments for contributing officers to the task force:

Bogota Police Department
Hillsdale Police Department
Ramsey Police Department
Rochelle Park Police Department
