“Our office is reviewing both the circumstances of the chase and the shooting,” Molinelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He declined to elaborate or discuss the circumstances, given that the matter is under investigation.

No one was struck by any shots during the chase, which began in Paramus after homeowners on Forest Avenue told police two men broke into their house before speeding off in a dark SUV. A Paramus officer tried pulling over the SUV, but it took off — leading police through Maywood, Hackensack, Teaneck, and Leonia before crashing in Bogota.

Bergen County Police joined in at some point and fired the gunshots, a ranking North Jersey law enforcement officer told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM.

Along the way, two seniors were injured in an accident in Maywood and the SUV bounced off several parked cars, police said.
