Jose Centeno, a 67-year-old ex-con from South River Street in Hackensack, was picked up yesterday after the father of a 7-year-old girl told Hackensack police that he “touched her in a sexual manner” at the father’s business, Molinelli said.
Centeno, who is single and unemployed, was carrying a knife when city police arrested him, the prosecutor said. They then contacted his Special Victims Unit.
Centeno was being held on $350,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, endangerment and weapons possession. He is scheduled for a Municipal Court hearing next Wednesday morning.
Also being held in the county lockup, on $250,000 bail, was 54-year-old Juaquin Martinez of Pascack Road in Park Ridge.
Park Ridge police and SVU investigators arrested Martinez today “after learning that he sexually abused a juvenile female acquaintance in 2005,” when she was 4 years old, Molinelli said.
“The victim had recently disclosed the sexual abuse to an acquaintance who then reported the alleged abuse to law enforcement authorities,” the prosecutor said.
Like Centeno, Martinez — who is single and works in an area restaurant — is charged with first-degree sexual assault and child endangerment.
He, too, is due in Municipal Court on Wednesday.
