"It appears that the pedestrian was crossing South River Street in the crosswalk when the vehicle came off the Court Street bridge going west when the light changed" just before 7:40 p.m., Capt. Francesco Aquila told Daily Voice early Friday.

The 59-year-old Bogota driver then turned his 2009 Chevy left to head south on River Street when the pedestrian was struck, said Aquila, the department's officer in charge.

An investigation was continuing, he said.
