No sooner were Kamar Wynter, 22 (above, left), and Clarence Childress, 20 (above, right), processed than each posted bail –Wynter $15,000 and Children $20,000 — and were released.
Both already were free on bail in connection with previous arrests when Teaneck police, federal Homeland Security investigators and DEA agents hit their apartments yesterday following a nine-week investigation, Acting Police Chief Robert A. Carney said.
It was the second time they’d searched Childress’s home in the past eight months — and the third time in five months that he’d been taken into custody before quickly posting bail.
An April search of his home not only turned up cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone but also a semi-automatic .380-caliber handgun, a muzzle-loading .45-caliber handgun, ammunition and a handgun speed loader, township police said at the time.
Yesterday, the total haul from both residences included cocaine, MDMA, marijuana, a digital scale from each, drug paraphernalia and $3,133 in drug proceeds, Carney said.
Wynter’s half-brother, Damian Williams, was a star quarterback at Teaneck High School who police said also sold pot from his car as a member of the local Rollin’ 20s chapter of the Bloods — a crew also known as Dame Dolla.
Williams was graduated in 2005 and gunned down six years later, at 24 years old, near a train station in Bound Brook.
Wynter played high school football, too, only on the defensive side of the ball.
Last year, he was arrested in Hackensack on charges of selling heroin and cocaine. He posted $5,000 bail and was released, records show.
Childress, meanwhile, has been arrested no fewer than four times in the past year and a half.
This past April, Teaneck police charged him with dealing from his home after finding drugs and guns in his Argonne Court apartment.
Less than a week later, he posted $150,000 bail and was released, according to records.
Three months passed before Childress again was arrested — this time in Hackensack — on charges of selling heroin and cocaine. He posted $25,000 bail two days later, records show.
Ten days after his release, Paramus police arrested Childress on domestic violence aggravated assault charges. He spent three days in the county jail — during which he also was charged with driving without a license — and was released on July 21 after posting a little over $3,000 combined bail, according to records.
Childress was living elsewhere in Teaneck when police charged him two years ago with hindering and drug-related offenses after arresting another man wanted in connection with a shooting in Hackensack who’d been hiding out there.
First appearances in Municipal Court on various drug possession and distribution offenses stemming from yesterday’s arrests are set for both Wynter and Childress this Monday.
