Another possible luring attempt, this time in Lyndhurst

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Police were questioning the driver of a white van in connection with a report of a possible luring attempt in Lyndhurst today — yet another in a string of alarming incidents in the area, possibly involving the same man who has tried to entice children to go with him.
In today’s incident, two township boys gave police a license plate number and a clear description of the driver after he tried talking them into the vehicle late this afternoon  near Valley Brook Avenueby showing them a video game console or other type of electronic device, Lyndhurst Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOTtonight.

As of 10 p.m., detectives were still interviewing the boys separately, as well as the driver, the chief said.

“Whether or not the encounter is what it’s believed to have been, they’re spot-on with the descriptions” of him and the van,O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Police believe a lone suspect may be the same one involved in a trio of incidents the past 10 days in Hackensack, Maywood and Oradell. Both Hackensack and Maywood police released sketches, while adding that the descriptions were very similar.

The vehicles, however, were all different.

Two other incidents reported out of Washington Township don’t appear related.
