Officer Manuel Tavera pulled over a two-door Mitsubishi in the 300 block of Prospect Avenue on Sunday after spotting a dent in the car -- and remembering a description issued in a Jan. 12 River Edge burglary alert, city Police Director Michael Mordaga told Daily Voice.

"The alert was two weeks old, but Officer Tavera obviously has a good memory," Mordaga said. "He approached the vehicle and noticed that the driver fit the description, too."

In the car were a drill, bolt cutters and assorted tools, the director said.

The alert "had indicated that the burglar drilled cylinders out of the locks to get in," he said.

Tavera took Nelson Segura of Garfield into custody and called River Edge police.

Segura, who turns 26 on Friday, was being held on $40,000, charged with a pair of burglaries in River Edge.
