Accused Pennsylvania trooper killer on FBI Ten Most Wanted list

ALERT: The FBI today added Eric Matthew Frein, the 31-year-old accused shooter of two Pennsylvania State Police troopers — one of whom was killed — to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

The bureau’s reward for information leading to his arrest was $100,000.

Frein is the 503rd person to appear on the FBI’s Top Ten list since it was created in 1950 (SEE POSTER, BELOW).

Since then, 472 fugitives have been caught or located — 94% — 156 of them as a result of citizen cooperation.

Frein “has ties to the mid-Atlantic region—including the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York,” the FBI said, and “faces state charges of homicide, homicide of a law enforcement officer, and attempted murder, as well as a federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution charge.

“He is considered armed and extremely dangerous.”

Authorities have accused Frein of the pre-dawn shootings Friday during an ambush at the Pennsylvania State Police Blooming Grove Barracks in Pike County.

Cpl. Byron Dickson, 38, was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass, 31, was critically wounded.

Days later, investigators retrieved what they said was incriminating evidence in Frein’s vehicle, found partially submerged in a nearby pond.

Frein is (DOB: May 3, 1983) is 6’1”, 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He may have shaved his head on both sides and have long hair on top.

He is known to be a heavy smoker, a weapons enthusiast, and a survivalist, and has studied Russian and Serbian.

“When law enforcement officers are violently targeted, we take it seriously – and personally,” said Edward J. Hanko, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division. “The FBI is committed to finding this suspect, keeping the public safe, and supporting our partners at the Pennsylvania State Police.”
