Both he and my mother pushed me to excel academically so that I may attend the university of my choice, an opportunity neither of them had. My goal in life has always been, and forever will be, to make my parents proud of me.

He was also the most family-oriented man I’ve ever met. He had five daughters to provide for and people contantly joked about how difficult it must have been to live in a house with six women.

He always responded with that he was a very lucky man to have the family that he did.

I will never forget the pride he held for me and my sisters. I will never forget how fiercely he loved us. My favorite part of the night was when my dad would knock on my bedroom door just to say “I love you.”

I love you, too, Daddy.

People tell me that I am my father. They say that I look like him, that I act like him. I can only hope that one day in my life that I will have touched the same number of people’s lives as my father did in his lifetime.

He truly was a giving man. He gave his time and his energy to anybody in need. I will always admire him for his strong character.

Thank you, Daddy, for being the best father I could have ever hoped for in life.

Your Loving Daughter,
Vanessa (19)
