90-year-old woman struck by bus in Fort Lee dies

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 90-year-old woman died Friday evening of injuries after she was knocked down by a bus on Main Street that kept going, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned. Law enforcement authorities with direct knowledge of her condition confirmed that Soon Yae Kim, of 505 North Avenue, succumbed to her injuries at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Yae Kim was knocked down by the Academy Community Coach bus around 9 a.m. Bystanders rushed to her aid, and she was eventually taken to the hospital.

Edward Johnson, 38, continued on his route, taking passengers to Bergen Community College on his #1247 coach.

“At this time, no charges have been filed,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon. “It has not been classified as a … criminal investigation.”

However, he said, it is still classified as an accident that is being handled by Fort Lee police.
