Matthew Chaseman, 46, was charged with two counts of attempting to cause bodily injury to the two officers who found him after he'd crashed his car outside a Route 17 building that houses the Bergen County Office of Social Services.
He also was charged with weapons possession for a BB gun that Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said had its orange tip painted black.
Chaseman had crashed his car and remained inside when security at the building off the northbound highway called police just before 3:30 a.m.
Two responding officers struck him with shots in the foot, authorities said.
