12 new Bergen County sheriff’s officers sworn in

SHOUT OUT: “This is a great day for our new officers, their families and Bergen County,” said Sheriff Michael Saudino, as a dozen new sheriff’s officers were sworn in yesterday.
Chosen from 100 candidates, the incoming class includes 10 military veterans:

Three served with the U.S. Marine Corps., five with Army and two with the Navy.

“I give my thanks to these ten members who sacrificed their lives and served our country overseas, and who are now returning to continue their service back home,” Saudino said.

The new officers begin a 22-week Police Academy next week at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute in Mahwah.

They are:

Matthew DeBonis – Hackensack
Wayne DeSemet – Lyndhurst
Patrick Doyle – Bergenfield
Tara Graul – Lyndhurst
Grzegorz Kinal – Wallington
Kevin Scarpa – Oakland
Vlad Shikham – Teaneck
Jason Volekas – Mahwah
Josh Watters – Harrington Park
