ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- Henry Christian Briel Jr., 85, of Rochelle Park, died Sunday, Dec. 13.
Before retiring, Briel worked for Lucent Technology in Berkeley Heights as an engineer.
He was a lifetime member and ex-chief of the Rochelle Park Fire Department, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 170 in Rochelle Park.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy.
Briel was the husband of Rose (nee Kropkowski) for 56 years; father of H. Christian Briel III, of Rochelle Park, Eric Briel, of River Edge, and Alison Papadopoulos and her husband Chris, of Maywood; grandfather of Caroline O'Brien; and great-grandfather of Chloe and Cameron.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
