Many of the community's low-income families are focused on making ends meet, making academics take a back seat. Children of low-income families typically don’t consider college because it has never been introduced to them as a possibility, leading those students empty handed when it comes to guidance and support to build careers or prepare for college.
As corporate sponsors, businesses have the opportunity to provide children the tools they need to prepare for higher education and a lifelong career.
Only 9 percent of low-income families earn a bachelor’s degree, according to the center. As a Fostering Success sponsor, gifts will be used to create and distribute a college road map to help high school students attain higher education.
As a Founders of Change sponsor, corporate employees can participate in a career workshop to expose students to the possibility of achieving a successful career.
