Fillet of Soul began in 1967 as a five-man a cappella group. A drummer, guitarist and bassist were added, followed by horn players -- and now numbers a dozen.

The band has opened for Sly and the Family Stone at Hinchcliff Stadium in Paterson, for Delaney & Bonnie and Friends at the defunct Capitol Theater in Passaic and for The Brooklyn Bridge at Palisades Amusement Park.

Previous vocalists have included Joe Lynn Turner, who became lead singer for Deep Purple and Rainbow, and JT Taylor, who went on to be the lead singer for the group Kool & the Gang.

The current lineup includes original members Doug Pintka on bass vocals and keyboardist Gene Bono.

Other members include vocalists Debra Hayes-Bono, Lynda Hayes, Yvonne Taylor and Z Arroyo; bassist Bobby Leone; drummer Bobby Palino; guitarist Joe Conti and percussionist Daniel J. Francisco. The horn section will feature Keith and Aubrey Macklin on trumpet and saxophone.
