Report: Bergen Boasts Eight Of NJ's 50 Wealthiest

Eight of the 50 wealthiest New Jerseyans live in Bergen County, according to a report by NJBIZ.

The area leader is hedge fund titan Larry Robbins, 46, of Alpine.

Robbins, the founder, portfolio manager and CEO of Glenview Capital Management, is No. 8 on the list, with $2 billion, according to NJBIZ.

Listed at 12 and 13, respectively, are third-generation Goya Foods kingpins Robert Unanue, 62, of Wyckoff, and his Peter Unanue, 50, of River Vale, with a combined worth of $1.5 billion, the report says.

Alpine real estate mogul Richard Kurtz, 76, is No. 15 on the list, at $1.4 billion.

Englewood brothers Daniel E. and Moshael Straus are Nos. 23 and 24, respectively, with a combined $940 million, the report says.

They're followed by Ed Doherty, 70, of Saddle River ($300 million) and horse racing tycoon Ahmed Zayat, 54, of Teaneck ($298 million).

The top 50 include, of course, Steve Forbes ($500 million), as well as Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi -- each at $305 million -- and former Gov. Thomas Kean ($350 million). CLICK HERE to read the entire story.
