The Bergen County Division of Consumer Affairs’ Office of Consumer Protection issued 57 warnings after visiting 248 stores over a 10-day period, County Executive Jim Tedesco said.
This was done before the holiday shopping season kicks off "not only to protect Bergen County consumers but to educate the various businesses throughout the county of the policy," Tedesco said.
Investigators will continue to visit merchants throughout the holiday season "in an effort to ensure compliance to this statute as well as all others [that] fall under the Consumer Fraud Act," the county executive said.
If you feel that your rights were violated under any aspect of the Consumer Fraud Act, call the Bergen County Division of Consumer Protection: (201) 336-6400.
