Dog-Walking Woman, 40, Struck Crossing Glen Rock Street, Hawthorne Driver, 76, Cited
A 40-year-old Glen Rock woman walking her dog was hospitalized after she was struck by an SUV while crossing the street in broad daylight, authorities said. A 76-year-old Hawthorne resident received a summons for failing to yield following the Nov. 14 noontime crash. The pedestrian and her dog were crossing Ackerman Avenue when the driver made a left from westbound Rock Road heading south and his 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek hit her, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Glen Rock Homeowner Burned
A Glen Rock homeowner burned his hand Monday during a small fire at his home. The Abington Terrace home just off Maple Avenue sustained minor damage in the noontime Nov. 20 second-floor blaze. The homeowner declined ambulance transport and said he'd drive himself to the hospital. Fire officials said original suspicions that a torch being used to burn paint off a baseboard caused the fire were incorrect. They didn't say how it started, however. Student Pilot Botches Landing At NJ Airport: Police
A small plane was damaged when a student pilot botched the landing at a New Jersey airport Monday morning, Nov. 20. The student was trying to land the single-engine Cessna 172N alongside the flight instructor at Blairstown Airport around 10:15 a.m., according to the FAA. However, the plane's wing struck the ground, and the aircraft slid off the runway several feet, Blairstown Police Chief Scott Johnsen said. Neither the student nor the pilot were injured. Clark Township Mayor Salvatore Bonaccorso was charged Monday, Nov. 20 with forging paperwork to nearly 24 New Jersey towns to allow his landscaping company to remove underground tanks, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. A single-axle tanker truck filled with heating oil sideswiped a utility pole, crashed through a chain link fence and finally stopped short of hitting a house near a Garden State Parkway overpass in Elmwood Park on Monday. A driver who crashed into multiple state police vehicles in Whippany Township remains at large after leading a brief pursuit before abandoning his vehicle and getting into another on Route 78, Monday, Nov. 20, authorities said. A pair of $10,000 Mega Millions tickets were sold in New Jersey last week. The tickets from the Tuesday, Nov. 14 drawing were sold at the Country Farm in Southampton (Burlington), and the Krauszer’s in Metuchen.
