NJ Transit, Amtrak Service Resumes After Power Outage, Brush Fire Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven had been suspended while NJ Transit service in and out of NY Penn Station was also suspended, due to power issues on the Amtrak line, NJ Transit said. The fire consumed 25 to 30 acres of land and took about three hours to bring under control, the National Park Fire Department said. Firefighters Battle Brush Fire In South Jersey Firefighters were battling a large brush fire in Burlington County. The fire had consumed about seven acres as of Friday afternoon, July 22, initial reports said. Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department said it was assisting the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire is on Ridgeview Avenue behind Browns Mills Arms Apartments. No structures were in danger and there had been no evacuations, the fire department said. Ridgeview Avenue was closed between Junction and Lakehurst roads. State forest fire crews were continuing backfiring operations, officials said.

Husky Frightened By Fireworks Rescued 1.5 Miles Off Jersey Shore (Photos) A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner.
