Alleged Police Brutality Victim From Paterson Arrested After Eluding, Resisting, Sheriff Says An alleged Paterson police brutality victim fled a traffic stop and then scuffled with Passaic County sheriff's officers who tracked him down at a nearby deli, authorities said. Osamah Alsaidi, 21, was stopped for an unspecified violation on Madison Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said. Alsaidi "argued with the officer and then fled the scene in the vehicle," the sheriff said. Jagdeep Singh, 30, apparently got into the Mazda Miata parked at the Delta gas station on southbound Route 23 to take a nap and got wedged upside-down in the roll cage, Detective Capt. Dan Daly said. Officers who responded detected an “overwhelming odor of alcohol” and summoned rescuers to get him out, Daly said. Both vehicles had to be towed following the crash at Alps Road and Warren Place around 7:30 p.m. The extent of the female driver's injuries couldn't be determined. Passersby Stop Cars To Help Victims In Fiery Route 80 Crash TOTOWA, N.J. -- Passersby stopped their cars to help five people involved in a fiery rush-hour crash on eastbound Route 80 in Woodland Park. Totowa and Woodland Park firefighters extinguished the flames, which spread from one sedan to one it T-boned on the passenger side around 4 p.m. The Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad tended to those injured.
