Two children in Wayne are battling leukemia and the community has their backs. Fundraisers has been set up for the families of Liam Frerichs and Chiara Dell'Accio. Liam, 6, initially had a low-grade fever that ballooned to 104.2 degrees. After tests were run, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and will have to spend the next two years undergoing chemotherapy, hospital stays and medical procedures. Authorities: Convicted Stalker From Passaic County Returned To Jail For Emailing Bergen Victim
A convicted stalker who spent eight months in the Bergen County Jail ended up right back there following his release. Michael Strzelczyk, 40, of Wayne had served eight months after being convicted in March of harassment, among other offenses, for violating a restraining order, records show. Strzelczyk was released on Nov. 30. He began emailing the Franklin Lakes victim soon after, violating a final order that was among the terms of probation, authorities said. A parolee accused of firing a gun at three people outside Mother’s Ale House in Wayne last month had help, authorities said. Ex-con Errol Heber, 36, of Passaic “was identified as an accomplice to the shooting,” Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Wayne PD: Illegal Gun Found In Home Of Man Prohibited From Having One
Wayne police said they found a gun in the home of a local man who’s prohibited from having one. Acting on a tip, detectives armed with a search warrant searched Eric Phenix, 31, at his apartment and found him carrying a gun part and some cocaine, Detective Capt. Daniel Daly said. Phenix then “directed officers to the hiding spot of the full firearm,” a semi-automatic handgun with the serial number removed, Daly said. At 6 months old, Troy from Wayne was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia -- a form of cerebral palsy. Troy is now 5 and completely dependent on a feeding tube, is non-verbal and unable to walk. Earlier this month, he underwent a 5.5-hour double hip surgery and a bilateral hell cord lengthening, hamstrings lengthening and open abductors lengthening.
