K9 Officer Tracks Down Englewood Car Thief Hiding In Secaucus Motel Parking Lot, Police Say
A Secaucus Police K9 officer tracked down a 20-year-old Englewood man who stole a vehicle leading to his arrest, authorities said. Jean Cardenas apparently stole the 2021 Toyota Corolla from a Subway restaurant at 10 Meadowlands Parkway around 6:30 p.m. May 5, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Authorities on Tuesday identified a man killed in a police-involved shooting in Newark just minutes into the new year as a South Orange resident. Carl Dorsey III, 39, was taken following the shooting near Woodland Avenue and South 11th Street to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:37 a.m., state Attorney General Gurbir S. A bicyclist was struck and killed in the middle lane of eastbound Route 3 in East Rutherford late Saturday, responders said. Lyndhurst police tactical units captured a fugitive wanted for attempted murder in Virginia who they said had a handgun in his hotel room, authorities said. The department's SWAT and crisis negotiation team went to the Winslow Hotel just off Route 3 around 9:50 a.m. Sunday. Fatal Crash: Motorcyclist Ejected Off Route 3 Bridge Into Hackensack River
A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Paterson was killed late Tuesday when he was ejected off a Route 3 bridge into the Hackensack River in Secaucus, responders said. Firefighters from Secaucus and East Rutherford recovered the body of the as-yet unidentified victim near the Clarion Empire Meadowlands Hotel south of the bridge about a half-hour after the 11 p.m. crash, they said. They also found his helmet. An ALS unit made the pronouncement. The highway was reopened around 4 a.m.

Responders: Clifton Man, 44, In Route 3 Crash Died Of Medical Cause
A 44-year-old driver killed in a Monday morning crash on Route 3 in Clifton apparently suffered a medical episode, responders told Daily Voice. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by Anton Dittrich of Clifton veered onto the westbound shoulder and scraped along the divider for about 100 yards before coming to a stop near the Bloomfield Avenue exit shortly before 10:30 a.m., authorities said Monday afternoon.
